TST Martial Arts Academy

Mr Steve Wilcox III

I first got into Tae Kwon-Do whilst watching my son train at Mr Barry Parsons club at Ernsford Grange School Coventry. It was a good friend of mine, Mr Duncan Hogg who persuaded me to start up my self after I kept saying I was too old at 38. Eventually I gave up to his constant asking and gave it ago. I never looked back since.

It was the same year 3 new black belts joined the club. Jon Tizick, Zoe Ramskill, and Kevin Sowerby. I started to raise up through the ranks thanks to tuition from Mr Parsons, Mr Colin O'Dowell, and Mr Duncan Hogg, and later on Mr Tizick, Miss Ramskill, and Mr Sowerby. And thanks to all these people in 2003 I gained my 1st degree black belt. During my time at that club I graded under Mr Parsons, Mr Cargin Moss, and Master Sahota all in the UKGT association.

Some time after taking my 1st Dan Jon, Zoë, and Kevin left the club to set up their own club TST. I stayed with Mr Parsons club for a few months before changing over to TST myself.
A big thank you to Mr Parsons for all he taught me.

Since being at TST I have had the privilege to become an assistant instructor, and I personally get such a buzz from teaching new and old students this great art.I gained my 2nd degree black belt in 2005, and my 3rd in 2008, both under Master Ian Ferguson A.P.T.I.It just shows that it is never to late to start Tae Kwon-Do, especially when you have instructors like Jon and Zoë. Steve has been without question one of the most important members of this club, he will always do what ever he can to help this club. I can phone Steve at any time of day, and he will go out of his way to help me. Booking rooms, enquiring about events, collecting trophies and equipment, all without question.
He will cover any lessons he can at short notice and really do anything we ask of him. He is a credit to the club, and a irreplaceable person.Steve has come on so much in the last 3 years, surprising himself by entering tournaments, grading under such pressures, as well has having a tough time away from Tae Kwon-Do.
A very popular social member of the club, I don't think there is a single event he has not attended, most he has had some part in organising. Steve is a great martial artist, good at the technical side of patterns, a good free sparer who can hold his own, but with out a doubt Steve is the club power house when it comes to breaking.
I can see Steve continuing his training and achieving very high grades that may even surprise him when he looks back in the future, with his determination and perseverance he can go anywhere.
